Tennessee Unemployment Rate Falls to 3.5%, Highlighting Continued Workforce Opportunities

Tennessee's labor market continued to show strength in June, as the state's seasonally adjusted unemployment rate fell to 3.5 percent, remaining well below the national rate of 4.2 percent, according to data released by the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development.

The state's economy also added more than 25,000 nonfarm jobs over the past year, with significant gains in healthcare and social assistance, leisure and hospitality, and administrative and support services. Those sectors reflect many of the industries driving growth across the Upper Cumberland, where employers continue seeking workers in healthcare, manufacturing, transportation, hospitality, and skilled trades.
