Upcoming RIVET Event in Smith County

Exploring a new career doesn't have to begin with a classroom or a job application. On Thursday, August 13, Workforce Connections will bring its RIVET Virtual Reality Career Exploration program to Smith County, giving residents an opportunity to experience a variety of careers through immersive virtual reality technology.

The free event will be held from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at the Smith County Chamber of Commerce, 939 Upper Ferry Road in Carthage.

RIVET is an innovative career exploration program designed to help individuals make informed decisions about their future. Using virtual reality headsets, participants can step into realistic work environments and experience what it's is like to work in careers across industries such as healthcare, advanced manufacturing, construction, logistics, transportation, and public service.

For students, job seekers, and anyone considering a career change, the experience offers a unique way to explore occupations before committing to additional education or training. Seeing a career firsthand can help participants discover new interests, better understand workplace expectations, and identify opportunities they may not have previously considered.

In addition to the virtual reality experiences, Workforce Connections staff will be available to share information about workforce programs, training opportunities, career services, and other resources available throughout the Upper Cumberland. Participants can learn about pathways into high-demand careers and connect with services designed to support their employment goals.

As the region continues to grow and employers seek skilled workers, programs like RIVET help bridge the gap between career exploration and workforce development by introducing residents to meaningful opportunities close to home.

The event is free and open to the public. Whether you're planning your first career, considering a new direction, or simply curious about the jobs shaping Tennessee's future, RIVET offers an engaging way to explore what's possible.
