Center of Development Expands Workforce Training Opportunities in Cookeville

A longtime pediatric therapy provider in Cookeville is investing in workforce development through apprenticeship programming aimed at strengthening the region’s healthcare and therapy workforce.

Center of Development has served children and families in the Upper Cumberland since 2002, offering pediatric occupational, physical, speech, feeding, and behavioral therapies. Founded as the first pediatric-only therapy clinic in the region, the organization focuses on comprehensive, individualized care designed to help children reach their full potential.

Through support from Workforce Connections, the organization is expanding training and career development opportunities for employees through apprenticeship initiatives. These programs allow participants to gain practical, hands-on experience while continuing their professional education and skill development.

As demand for pediatric and behavioral health services continues to increase, workforce development has become a critical need across healthcare fields. Apprenticeship programs help organizations build strong talent pipelines while creating accessible career pathways for individuals interested in healthcare and therapy professions.

Center of Development’s multidisciplinary approach and specialized therapy environment make it a unique provider in the region. The organization offers integrated therapy services designed specifically for children with autism, sensory processing disorders, developmental delays, ADHD, and related needs.

By participating in apprenticeship programming, Center of Development is helping strengthen the Upper Cumberland’s healthcare workforce while continuing its mission of supporting children and families throughout the community.
