Madiston PowerTel Receives Apprenticeship Funding to Strengthen Workforce Development

Madiston PowerTel, Inc., a respected family-owned business with deep roots in the Upper Cumberland, recently received apprenticeship funding support to help strengthen and expand its workforce development efforts. The funding presentation recognizes the company’s ongoing commitment to investing in skilled talent and building sustainable career pathways within the electrical and telecommunications industries.

Pictured at the check presentation is Melissa Allen, co-owner and Chief Executive Officer of Madiston PowerTel, Inc. Alongside co-owner and Chief Operating Officer Matt Allen, Melissa continues a legacy that began in the 1980s when Mike Allen first established the business. In 2013, Matt and Melissa assumed leadership, expanding operations and modernizing services to meet growing regional demand.

Originally operating as Allen’s Electrical Service, the company built a strong reputation providing commercial, residential, and industrial electrical services. In 2019, the Allens launched AES Fiber to expand into fiber optic cable servicing and splicing for contractors, cooperatives, small businesses, and other organizations. Later that year, the two operations merged to form Madiston PowerTel, Inc., creating a unified company capable of delivering both electrical and fiber telecommunications solutions.

This apprenticeship funding will help Madiston PowerTel continue developing skilled electricians and fiber technicians through structured, hands-on training programs. Apprenticeships allow participants to earn while they learn, gaining industry-recognized credentials while meeting the company’s workforce needs. For employers like Madiston PowerTel, apprenticeship investment ensures a pipeline of highly trained professionals prepared to support complex infrastructure projects across the region.

By participating in apprenticeship initiatives, Madiston PowerTel demonstrates its dedication not only to business growth but also to long-term workforce sustainability. The company’s investment in training reflects a broader commitment to quality workmanship, safety, and community development
