Connecting People to Purpose: The Role of the American Job Center in the Upper Cumberland
At Workforce Connections, we believe every individual in the Upper Cumberland deserves the opportunity to grow, thrive, and find meaningful work. That’s why we’re proud to support the American Job Center (AJC) system—a network of locations across our region where jobseekers, students, and career changers can find real support for real-life goals.
Whether you’re looking for your first job, navigating a career change, or reentering the workforce, the AJC is a one-stop shop for career services. From resume help and job placement to skills training and supportive services like transportation and childcare, these centers are built to remove barriers and move people forward.
Our main site in Cookeville, along with affiliates across the region, brings together multiple partners to serve a wide range of needs. Veterans receive priority access. Adults 55+ can access paid work experiences. Youth can explore training pathways that lead directly to employment. And through Empower Upper Cumberland—a regional initiative to end generational poverty—we’re making sure those with the highest barriers to employment are not just supported, but empowered.
At the heart of this work is the belief that no one should have to navigate their career journey alone. That’s why Workforce Connections and Empower Upper Cumberland are working side by side to provide the tools, guidance, and encouragement our community members need to take the next step. The AJC is just another tool helping individuals get their career path started, and restarted.
If you or someone you know is looking for help with employment, training, or simply figuring out the next chapter, we invite you to visit an American Job Center near you. Let’s build a stronger workforce—together.
